1) IaaS(infrastructure as a service)
Offering services like virtual servers or data storage disks basically infrastructure, is done by this type of cloud. Examples are Amazon, Racksapce.
2) PaaS (Platform as a service )
Cloud offering a platform for development of OS, programming language, web server and database falls under this category. Examples are Microsoft Azure and Google app engine.
3) SaaS (Software as a service)
Inplace of buying licensed programs which are generally not pocket friendly , users can subscribe to use software applications offered by organizations at pay-per-use basis.Examples are Gmail and google docs.
Cloud computing lets you a create a so called virtual office which is accessible and can be managed from anywhere and at any time. This can be seen as a biggest advantage of this technology. Automated updates which are part of your subscription plan keep you updated with latest improvements such as upgrades to better computing power.
It also results in reduction of IT costs for small as well as big organizations as the cost of equipment and machines such as local servers can be avoided .Also the cost of up-gradation of machinery and time delay caused in setup process is saved. This technology has resulted in having a huge positive impact on business organizations by cutting their expenses and giving them data security, but has not been very effective in targeting individual developers. This is due to the fact that subscription plans of these providers are expensive for personal use. Further advancement in this technology may help in lowering subscription costs, and make cloud computing reach individual audience.
